Ravaging Beauty

I know that many areas of the country are struggling with heavy snow and the destruction and frustration that nature can bring in the winter months. Perhaps it's easy for me, since Tucson barely gets cold enough to scrape ice off my windshield, to say that nature is inherently beautiful even when she ravages us with her beauty.

I found these incredible images of snowflakes over at Mighty Optical Illusions. They reminded me that how we relate to nature is more about what we bring to her than what she is. These are real images, not doctored. The incredible intricacy of a snowflake, even though I've seen images like this before, just blew me away.
